Brenda J. (Bowers) Ross

Brenda Jean Ross (Bowers) of Ashland, Ohio has gone to join the Lord, her Savior. She passed peacefully in the presence of a dear friend in the early morning of January 23, 2019. Born April 22, 1964 to Harry and Sevia Bowers, Brenda touched the lives of many with her spunk and get-it-done attitude.

Despite the winding road to get there, she married her high school sweetheart, Todd Ross on August 21, 2010. They have been infatuated with each other ever since. They raised her two children together, Krystal and Kyle Reynolds, and made an awesome blended family; she picked the greatest stepfather the kids could ask for.

Brenda graduated from Ashland High School in 1982, received her Bachelor’s degree from Ashland University in 2002, and received her Master’s of Business Administration from American InterContinental University in 2006. She was employed in numerous positions at Pentair Pump Group, Inc. throughout her 28 years at the company. She also tried her hand at being a Marketing professor at North Central State College, but decided that was for the birds.

Instead, she raised chickens and ducks on the family farm and proudly wore the title of Crazy Chicken Lady. “Her Girls” as she lovingly referred to the chickens, came to her when she called and would not only allow her to pick them up but would also ride on her shoulder.

Her receiving party at the Pearly Gates includes her sister, Tonya Murray (Bowers), her father, Harry R Bowers, her grandparents, Harry H and Juanita Bowers (Montgomery), and Dorothy VanTilburg (Smith). She will also be celebrating in Heaven with Todd’s sister Lori Hartsel (Ross), and his parents Don and Mary Ross (Braden). She will be waiting in His presence to welcome her survivors, Todd, Krystal, and Kyle, as well as her mother, Sevia, and brother Dale Bowers. As if she and Tonya were not involved in enough shenanigans in life, they now share the same Heavenly welcoming day, 12 years apart. They will both be in the receiving line for her survivors, husband Scott Murray and children.

Fellowship, laughter, and remembrance will be held at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, where Todd and Brenda have devoted much time to serving their Lord. Doors and arms will be open from 5pm – 8pm on Monday, January 28, 2019 as well as prior the funeral from 9am-11am on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. The funeral service will begin at 11am at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.

Heyl Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements, please direct any gifts for the family to their attention.
