Carol Ann (Grammy) Stringer, long-time resident of Ashland, passed away on April 4, 2019 in Sarasota, Florida. She was 79 years old.
She was born in Akron, Ohio on May 20, 1939 to Elmer K. and Guila Markle. After her graduation from Springfield High School with the class of 1957, Carol married David E. Stringer on September 20, 1957. In the 1960’s, Carol, David and family moved to Ashland, where she was a homemaker, secretary at Ashland College in the 1970’s, and beloved Mom, Grammy and great- Grammy to her family. She moved to Sarasota, Florida in June 2018.
Carol loved nothing more than attending all the activities of her Grandchildren and great- Grandchildren. Family was everything to her.
Surviving are two daughters, Renee Statham and Christine Bauer (both of Sarasota, Florida) and one son, David (Rory) Stringer (Ashland); nine grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Glaze, Zach (Lauren) Bauer, Luke Bauer, Hallie (Samuel) Statham- Kitzler, Samantha (Corey) McIntyre, Kasey Simmerer, Alexandra Stringer, Max Stringer, and honorary Grandson, Jordan Black; and five great- Grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Philip and Kenneth (Rocky) and best friend and sister in-law, Sandra.
A memorial service will be held on May 18, 2019 at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland, Ohio. Visiting hours will begin at 1:00 P.M., and will be followed by the service at 2:00 P.M.
