Dorothy-Dot Potter, age 79, of rural Ashland Co., Greenwich, OH., passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Hospice House of North Central Ohio. On August 13, 1929, in Belmont, OH., Mrs. Potter was born to the late Floyd and Thelma (Crow) Finnicum. She had been employed as a quality controller at National Latex for 30 years until her retirement. Mrs. Potter's memberships include Savannah Presbyterian Church, a life member of Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W., Ladies Auxiliary Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, and a 20 year volunteer for the American Red Cross. She loved playing cards and enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading, cooking, making baskets, collecting cookbooks, and watching baseball games.
On January 12, 1999, Mrs. Potter married Frank Potter who survives. Also surviving are a son: Joseph Norris; grandson: Robert Mark Baughman; stepson: Dan (Martha) Pence: 2 step-daughters: Kay Potter Hayles and Carolyn (Tim)McClure: 6 sisters: Ruth Ann Mulford, Jerri Taylor, Jacqueline Yonka, Nita Delotetle, Nancy Watkins, and Kay Crone: 1 brother: Floyd Finnicum: 2 great-grandchildren: Mark Ray Baughman and Brittany Leanne Baughman: and 2 great-great-grandchildren: Raif John Smith and Wyatt Smith. Mrs. Potter was preceded in death by her 1st husband: David G. Pence 12/12/1985 and 2 sisters: Betty Rose and Jean Finnicum.
Services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009, 4:00pm at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland, OH., with Pastor John Lufkin officiating. Interment will be at Ashland Co. Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 4:00pm Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
