John Paul Zahuranec age 88, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born on September 16, 1930 in Hawk Run, PA., the son of John and Susan (Rusnak) Zahuranec. Mr. Zahuranec had been employed with the Federal Aviation Administration where he was an electronic technician for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Zahuranec was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
On June 12, 1954 John married Agnes Kolosky who preceded him in death in 2006. Survivors include his daughters, Jean (Jack) Bevington of Ashland, Judy (John) Grundy of Ashland, Debra Coffman of Ashland, and Joyce Baker of Dallas, TX.; his 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; along with his sister, Susan (William) Wilson of Philadelphia, PA.
In addition to his wife Agnes, John was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Georgetta; a grandson, Lee Baker; a sister, Josephine Kasubick; and brothers, Joseph and Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. with Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Burial was at Ashland County Memorial Park.
