Larry Ritchey Obituary

Larry Eugene Ritchey, 71, of Ashland passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born August 19, 1939 in Newark, Ohio to the late Herbert and Clara (Howard) Ritchey and had been an Ashland County resident since 2002. He was a 1959 graduate of Newark High School, had worked at Holthane Phone for 10 years and was an Operational Engineer at Owens Corning Fiber Glass retiring after 32 years. He was a member of Toastmasters International, Big Brothers - Big Sisters and was a foster parent. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of Licking Valley Church of Christ in Newark.

On June 7, 1970, he married Julia Adams who preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded by his parents and brother Ronald Lee Ritchey.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law Ester and Mervin Baker of Mansfield and Donna and Ken Brady of Galloway, five nephews David Ritchey of Michigan, Mark Ritchey of Mesa, Arizona, Marvin and Judy Baker of Medina, Larry and Val Baker of Columbia, S.C., Dan and Natalia Caley of Ashland, five nieces Linda and Doug Reynolds of Ashland, Sue and Rick Jurjevic of Ashland, DeLee and Russ Powell of Mansfield, Lisa Leonard of Washington Court House and Lori and David Lincoln of Columbus. He is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews and his loving care takers Steve and Jennifer Chereson of Polk.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 11:00 am at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Pastor Robert Pflueger officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens at a later time. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 11:00 am the day of the service. The family suggests contributions be made to Ashland County Animal Shelter, 1710 Garfield Ave., Ashland, Ohio 44805.
