Leroy O. Long age 77 of Ashland, passed away Thursday January 3, 2013 at the Brethren Care Village.
Born on September 8, 1935 in Hebron West Virginia the son of Guy and Norma (Wagner) Long he had been an Ashland resident since 2001.
Mr. Long was retired from the United States Air Force and had also been employed with the United States Postal Service.
On January 8, 2000 Mr. Long was married to Mabel M. Gladwell who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four step daughters and one step son in law, Kathy Laird of Kokomo Indiana, Nancy Richmond of Kokomo Indiana, Jan (John) Kerr of Punxsutawney Pa and Leslie Gladwell of Ashland. One step son and daughter in law, Dave (Cindy) Gladwell of Barbourville West Virginia also survive as do ten step grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. One brother and sister in law also survive, Guy (Marty) Long of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews who were very important to Mr. Long.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Denzel Long, Joseph Long, Billy Long; two sisters, Pat Reed, Donna Long and one granddaughter
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 7, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Ashland Church of Christ, 1185 County Road 1356, Ashland Ohio with Tim Nowlin, John Kerr and Dave Gladwell officiating.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday January 6, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. at the Heyl Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Burial will be held at the Brush Run Cemetery in Pennsboro, West Virginia.
