Michael “Mike” Wayne Kanzig, known by his friends as “Zig”, age 53, of Perrysville, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 1, 1965 in Ashland, the son of Harry J. Kanzig and Ellen (Bowersock) Jenkins. Mike had been a resident of Ashland County most all of his life and was a 1983 graduate of Ashland High School. He had been employed with Broscho Fabricated Products as a press operator. He most recently had been a talented pinstriper, enjoying pin striping everything from motorcycles, automotive parts to shoes and purses. Mike was a member of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Club. He was a “Gearhead” he enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, Camaros and going to car shows with his Dad. He was also a talented Drummer and had been active in several different bands throughout the years.
Survivors include his daughter, Morgan (Travis) Stacy of Lucas; his father and step mother, Harry and Linda Kanzig of Ashland; his sisters, Christine (Corey) Dormaier of Loudonville and Mary (John) Stone of Loudonville; his brother, Brian Kanzig of Shelby; his step sisters, Linnel (Mike) McClain of Mansfield, Brenda (Brad) Kimes of Mansfield, Chris (Marshall) Hill of Tyler, TX.; his step brother, Nelson (Beth) Kilgore of Mansfield; along with his several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Thursday, October, 18, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Christopher R. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Union Cemetery in Perrysville. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 5 to 7:00 P.M. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to www.donatelifeohio.org, an organization that was very important to him.
