Rasa Lee (McConnel) Herston

Rasa Lee Herston age 94, of Polk, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Brethren Care Village.  She was born December 30, 1924 in Lauderdale County Alabama, the daughter of Henry and Nora (Long) McConnell.  Rasa Lee had been a resident of Ashland County for the past 20, she was a Homemaker.  She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, camping, bird watching and fishing with her husband; she also enjoyed crafts.  Rasa Lee most enjoyed spending her time with her family especially her grandchildren. 

On February 1, 1941 she married William Herston who preceded her in death.  Survivors include her children, Charoltte (John) Wells of Ashland, Sandra Furin of Ashland, Wanda Newberger of Polk and William (Terry) Herston of Melbourne, FL.; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 18 great- great grandchildren; her sisters, Vera (Buddy) Tremmel of Peninsula, OH., and Nancy Warman of Savannah, TN; along with her brother, Louis McConnell of Decatur, Al. 

In addition to her husband William, Rasa Lee was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. with Logan Porter officiating, Rasa Lees’s great grandson.  Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 P.M. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
