Richard Oen Dunn

Richard Oen Dunn age 90, of Ashland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born October 6, 1928 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, the son of the late Rolland and Laura (McFarin) Dunn.  Mr. Dunn had been a resident of Ashland since 1954.  He was employed with GTE for 40 years; he served as Regional Manager with the Northern Ohio District and later retired as the General Manager.  Mr. Dunn was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for his service during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Dunn was a member of the Knights of Columbus and had been President of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce.  He loved his family along with fishing, boating, horseback riding and was a great pie baker especially Pumpkin and pecan.

On June 28, 1948 Richard married Jean Glace in Pittsburg, PA.  Survivors include his wife, Jean Dunn of Ashland; son Jim (Joni) Dunn of Mansfield; daughter, Michelle (Robin) Kreider of Arlington, TX.,; his grandchildren, Tyler (Jess) Dunn, Dallas (Nia) Dunn, Weston (Miranda) Dunn, Carson Dunn, Courtney (Jeffrey) Johnson and Lindsey (Dr. Wayne) Hey; along with his 9 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Rod Kreidler presiding.  The Rite of Commital will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park with Military Honors presented by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.  The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to St. Edward’s Church, 501 Cottage St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
