Richard Witmer Obituary

Richard Eugene Witmer, age 82 of Ashland, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Brethren Care Village. On July 28, 1930 in Ashland, OH., Mr. Witmer was born to Leo and Katherine (Breneman) Witmer. He had been a resident of Ashland all of his life retiring from A.L. Garber Co. in 1995. Formerly Mr. Witmer had been employed at Isaly’s, HYCO, and served with the US Army in 1951 to 1953.

On May 13, 1956 Mr. Witmer married Edna Watson who survives. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard (Bonnie) Witmer and Robert (Angie) Witmer all of Ashland, OH.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mary Barber of Wellington, OH.; and one brother, Roger Witmer of Canton, OH. Mr. Witmer was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Katherine Witmer, one son, Ed Witmer, and brothers and sisters: Phillip Witmer, Portia Lightfoot, Glenna McMillan, Sam Witmer, Eileen Burkholder, Jane McCoy, and Margertte Civay.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. Heyl Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements and an online register book is available to express condolences to the family at www.heylfuneralhome.com
