Robert James Dougherty “Bob” age 67 of Ashland, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center. He was born September 14, 1951 in Ashland, the son of the late Heber and Leora (Urie) Dougherty. He had been a lifelong resident of Ashland. Bob had been employed with Precision Latex as the Plant Manager for 20 years; he later worked for Abbott Labs for 8 years, later retired from Walmart where he worked in the hardware department.
Bob was a faithful Christian with a strong faith and read his Bible every day. He was a very humble man, hard worker, always kind and selfless with a wonderful sense of humor. He was an Avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Bob was an animal lover, enjoyed fishing and most enjoyed attending his Grandchildren’s events. Bob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed; he made a huge difference in all of his family’s lives.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Joseph) Dougherty- Salmons of Ashland; sons, James (Belinda) Dougherty of Ashland, and Matthew Dougherty of Ashland; his 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Bruce) Morris, and Darlene (Kenneth) Householder; his brother, Rick (Pat) Dougherty; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Cunningham; and brother, Roger Dougherty.
A time of gathering and remembrance will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to St. Jude Children’s’ Research Hospital 501 St. Jude PL Memphis, TN 38105 or the Akron Children’s Hospital through Akronchildrens.org.
