Ruth attended the Thomas School on King Road. She liked to tell that she walked two miles each way to attend school. Ruth graduated from Ashland High School in 1939.
Ruth worked most of her life as a caregiver, first for her parents and later she cared for various friends in the Ashland community.
Ruth enjoyed growing flowers. She kept a journal for most of her life and loved telling stories about old Ashland. Ruth enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends. Ruth was a member of the Thomas Community Club. She treasured the relationship her family had with neighbors and spoke often of the Sattlers, the Leiters, and the Atens.
Ruth was a faithful member and prayer warrior at Ashland Brethren in Christ Church. She taught children’s Sunday school and was a charter member of the Ladies Sewing Circle. She helped sew comforters using her treadle sewing machine.
