Donald Ray Ross, age 86 of Ashland, OH., passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Hospice House of North Central Ohio. On December 22, 1927 in Pennsylvania Mr. Ross was born to the late Earl and Winni Ross. He had been employed at General Motors, and a member of Ashland Masonic Lodge #151, Royal Arch Masons Chapter 207, Ashland Council 128, Commandery, the Ashland Shrine Club, and the First Christian Church. Mr. Ross served during the Korean War with the Naval Reserve. On June 3, 1950 Mr. Ross married Nancy Jean Parmelee who preceded him in death October 14, 2000. He is survived by his special friend, Norma McVey of Ashland; one brother-in-law, Frank Parmelee; one sister-in-law, Alice Goodall; and friend, Bill Harvey. Services will be held 2:15 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland, OH., with Pastor David Zerby officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron on Monday. A Masonic Service will be conducted Sunday afternoon 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Shrine Club, P.O. Box 182, Ashland, OH., 44805. An online register book will be available for family and friends to express condolences at www.heylfuneralhome.com

May you rest in God's loving care my friend. I'm honored to have crossed paths with you these last few months. My prayers go out to those who loved and knew you best. I am thankful for the short time we visited each week. Until we meet again.

Our deepest sympathy to Don's family and his close friend, Norma McVey. Don was an active, enjoyable member of the Norton High School Class of 1946. He will be missed at our monthly class breakfasts, which he always attended.
