Dorcas Althea Kroll age 93, of Ashland passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Brethren Care Village, Brookwood Place.  Dorcas was born March 23, 1924 in Ashland to James M. and Helen E. (Burns) Strickling.  She lived in Ashland County her entire life.  Dorcas met her husband, William Kroll, during World War II and they were married February 16, 1946.  They were married 62 ½ years until Bill’s passing in November 2008.  They were the parents of two children, Jack Lee (deceased) and Beverly (Tim) McMillen.  Dorcas worked a short period of time and then was content to stay home with her children.


Dorcas is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Tim) McMillen; her three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her sister, Pat Shaw; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death parents; husband, Bill; four brothers; four sisters; and her son, Jack in 2012.  Dorcas was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank Brethren Care for the wonderful care she received the nine years she lived there and also Hospice of North Central Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Michael Koch officiating.  Burial will follow at the Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorial Contributions may be made in Dorcas’s memory to Hospice of North Central Ohio 1050 Dauch Dr. Ashland, Ohio 44805.

Your Mother was a great lady, I so enjoyed her visits at Samaritan when I worked there she and your Father made life worth living with all the joy they shared each visit..
