Gary Lee Woodruff age 67, of Lexington, Ohio formerly of Ashland went to be with the Lord November 1, 2018 at 4:53 P.M. at Pickerington Care and Rehab Center after his struggle with bone cancer.

He was born May 12, 1951 at Mansfield General Hospital, the son of Eldon and Kathleen (Wilkin) Woodruff.  Gary was a 1969 graduate of Ashland High School.  Employed at the age of 18 with the Ohio Department of Transportation District 3 and retiring as an asphalt supervisor in 2000 at the age of 49.  He was a member of the Ashland Eagles Club.  Gary enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and mushroom hunting.  He was an avid bowler for many years in Ashland and Richland Counties.

He is survived by his wife, Julie known to him as “Honey” of Lexington; his children, Allison Tyner of North Carolina, Gary Shank of California, Constance (Zach) Schaeg of Ashland, Tonya (Russ) Frazee of Mansfield and Mary (Andy) Ball of Shelby; his grandchildren, Kyle Bowersock, Justin Tyner, Jadyn Wilbanks, Rianna Shank, Shyann Simmons, Andrew Schaeg, Rebekah Schaeg, Payson Schaeg, Lillian- Kay Schaeg, Dyonna Ball, Andy Ball 3rd, Adam Ball, and Rusty Frazee 2nd; his siblings, Karen (Tom) Knoefel, Jill (Tom) Gualtieri, Dana Woodruff, Rex (Charlene) Woodruff and Rick Shelly; along with his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Now joined in Heaven with his parents, Eldon and Kathleen Woodruff; biological mother, Betty Bugbee; his foster parents, Carl and Dorothy Shelly along with many other family members and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 12:00 P.M., burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.  Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bob and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of Gary, he was a good friend and

I want to say sorry for the families loss. Gary was a good guy and was one to always crack a joke. I am so glad that he didn't suffer for a long period of time. Rest in peace Gary and know that you will be missed.
