Anna McMillen Obituary

On March 9, 2023 Anna Louise Boud McMillen, 98 of Ashland, Ohio died peacefully at The Good Shepherd. Ann was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 29, 1924 to the late Norman Boud and Esther (Houriet) Boud.

Ann grew up in Strattanville, Pennsylvania and graduated from Clarion High School in 1942 where she met her late husband, Dick L. McMillen. Ann and Dick married in May, 1946 and in 49 years of marriage raised two children in Willowick, Ohio. Church was an important focus of their lives and they were active members of Shoregate United Methodist Church for 47 years. Ann adored her grandchildren, Anna and Alex McMillen, and eventually moved to Ashland to be near them. She then joined Christ United Methodist Church enjoying the fellowship of her new church family.

Ann loved music, ballet, musical theatre, bird watching and of course, shopping. She enjoyed being a grandmother, attending her grandchildren’s sporting, dance and academic activities and other community events.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dick L. McMillen, son James R. McMillen, her parents Norman and Esther Boud, brother Kenneth W. Ambrose and sisters Winifred Boud Govze, Norma Boud Thompson and Helen Ambrose Green.

She is survived by her daughter Judith McMillen Mudd (Alan) of Beverly, MA, grandchildren Anna L. McMillen of Adelaide, Australia, Alex J. McMillen (Katie) of Haverhill, MA, daughter-in-law Susan McMillen of Mansfield, OH. Also, brother Dennis Ambrose (Kathleen) of Chardon, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ann’s life will be held at the Shoregate United Methodist Church 30500 Bayridge Boulevard Willowick, Ohio 44905 on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Elgan Reynolds and Rev. Tom Snyder officiating.. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Ashland County Dog Shelter, 1720 Garfield Avenue, Ashland, OH or the Alzheimer’s Association Central Ohio Chapter are suggested.
