Barbara A. (Butterfield) Bush

Barbara Ann Bush age 90 of Ashland, passed away on Thursday July 20, 2023 at her residence after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born on May 10, 1933 in Massillon, Ohio the daughter of Arthur S. and Mary Belle (Lewis) Butterfield she was a Ashland resident for over 60 years. Barbara was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School, where she was an excellent student, was the homecoming queen and a majorette in the Massillon Tigers Marching Band. Mrs. Bush had been employed by the Dale-Roy School as a teachers aide until her retirement. She was a member of the Grace Church in Ashland. Barbara was a member of various swimming groups at the local YMCA, enjoyed gardening, canning and walking her dog. 

On June 2, 1951, Barbara was married to Edward E. Bush who survives.

In addition to her husband Edward she is survived by two children; Brenda (Alan) Huffman of Mansfield and John (Tracy) Bush of Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren; Jessie L. Wilfong of Ashland, Christina E. Wilfong of Ashland, Ian (Autumn) Bush of Texas, Sean E. Bush & Evan Christopher Bush of Texas. She is also survived by her brother David (Rebecca) Butterfield of Massillon and by two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bush is preceded in death by her parents Arthur S. and Mary Belle Butterfield, brothers; Arthur J. Butterfield, Evan S. Butterfield, Donald E. Butterfield and Dorothy J. Young. She is also preceded in death by one son, Bruce Edward Bush.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at 10am at the Heyl Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Sunset Hills cemetery following the funeral.
