Barbara Ann (Strine) Camp age 76 of Medina, passed away on October 24, 2023 at Select Fairhill Hospital in Cleveland.

 Born in Ashland on April 26, 1947, to Warren and Hallie (Humrichouser) Strine, Barbara graduated from Ashland High School in 1965. She continued her education at Miami Valley School of Nursing Class of 1968 and Dyke Business College with a Bachelor of Science/ Business Administration Degree in 1991. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Strongsville, Ohio, Kings Daughters and Sons, Woman’s Auxiliary Ashland University and a Deaconate at the United Church of Christ. She was a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurse’s (National), Lake Erie Chapter of American Association of Critical Care Nurse’s, American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the Miami Valley Hospital Alumni Association. She was the recipient of the Woman of Professional Excellence Award in 1992 and Honorary Ashland University Alumna in 2017. Barbara began her nursing career at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland Ohio as a staff nurse in the hospital’s first coronary care until 1969, until 1972 she worked as a staff nurse in Cardiac Step Down for Parma Community Hospital. Then she finished her career with the Cleveland Clinic system at Fairview Hospital until her retirement in 2007. During her time at Fairview Hospital, she worked as a paramedic instructor of WESHARE, as a staff nurse in the coronary care unit, as a charge nurse and nursing supervisor. She was the Clinical Manager of the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Step Down, Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, and of the Dialysis Unit. 

On July 28, 1968 Barbara married her high school sweetheart Mark Camp who survives. Also surviving are two children and one daughter in law; Brandt (Gelin) Camp of Medina and Abby (Camp) Colao of Mentor. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Hunter Colao, Aidan Camp and Hannah Colao. Also surviving are siblings; Doug (Sally) Strine, Chris (Vicky) Strine, Debbie Valentine and brother-in-law David (Carol) Camp.

 Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Warren and Hallie Strine; in-laws, Harold and Louella Camp; two sisters in law, Cathy Strine and Sherry Sheeks and brothers in law, John Sheeks and Bob Valentine.

 Funeral services will be held on Monday October 30 at 11:00 am at the Ashland University Chapel with Rev. Heidi Denman McDougall officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 pm till 5:00 pm at the Heyl Funeral Home on Sunday October 29 and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the Ashland University Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Trinity White Church Cemetery on State Route 89. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the Medina County SPCA or Strongsville United Church of Christ.
