Barbara “Sue” Hoover- Hendershott age 81, of Ashland, passed away after a lengthy illness at Life Care Hospice of Wooster, Ohio, on Sunday, August 2nd, 2020. Sue was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lee and Ruth (Sherrots) Carnes. She was a graduate of White Cross Nursing School in Columbus, Ohio, where she received her Registered Nursing degree. She was employed as an R.N. at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and later at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, Ohio where she retired. After retiring she worked part- time for Hospice of Ashland, Ohio. Sue was active in Friends of Lois and had attended Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved her family, had a passion for children and spending time with her Grandchildren and Great grandchildren. Sue blessed many people through her faith.
Sue married David C. Hoover in 1958 and together they had 3 children; Steven (Jennifer) Hoover of Nova, David Lee Hoover of Ashland, and Cindy Hoover – Bunn of Ashland; grandchildren, Rebecca (Tay) O’Neil, Anthony Hoover, Heather (Chad) Long, Brandon Bender, John Sablan, and Nicole Hamrick; great- grandchildren, Corbin Potts, Regan Long, Taylor Long, Daniel Long, Anastin Hoover, Frankie Hoover, Yuna Scoggins, Mia O’Neil, Kinley Sablan, and Blayne Hamrick; along with 7 nieces and nephews.
Sue later married Jack Hendershott and Sue became the step- mother to; Jeffrey (Tammy) Hendershott of Ashland, Joseph (Dardi) Hendershott of Columbus, Jennifer (Brian) Hendershott- Kinn of Raleigh, N.C., Jonathon Hendershott of Sarasota, FL., and Justin (Hilary) Hendershott of Damascus, OH., along with 18 step-grandchildren and 6 step- great- grandchildren whom she loved as her own.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her first husband, David in 1982; her second husband Jack, in 2012; along with her sisters, Jean, Betty and Ruth Anne.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to the staff of Life Care Hospice of Wooster for their outstanding care. Also to her niece Jane Begley for assisting in mom Sue’s care during the last few months of her life during her Hospice Home care, to Jennifer Hendershott- Kinn for her love and generosity, and for Bobbie Browne’s friendship.
Due to the current health crisis private family funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home with Chaplain Ginger Pflueger officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Sue’s memory to Ohio's Hospice Lifecare 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691. Online condolences are encouraged to be left for the family.
