Bernice "Bunny" M. (Russell) Wachtel

Bernice “Bunny” M. Wachtel age 100, of Ashland, passed away early Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Loudonville, Ohio on August 18, 1919, the daughter of the late Thomas and Effie (Sellers) Russell.  Bernice had been a lifelong resident of Ashland County where she was a Homemaker.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had formerly been an active member of Willing Workers Sunday School Class.  She was also an active Lincoln Historian and avid reader.

On September 25, 1943 Bernice married Willis Wachtel who preceded her in death in 1967.  Survivors include her children, Susan K. (Michael) Rogers of Leesburg, FL., Sharon Wachtel of Ashland, and Steve (Cindy) Wachtel of Marble Head.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Matthew (Molly) Rogers, Christopher (Jill) Wachtel, Gretchen (Dennis) Wachtel, Michelle (Greg) Cayse, Robert (Jane) Derr and Joni Atkins;  along with her great grandchildren, Whitnie Langenkamp, Sydney Langenkamp, Madeline Wachtel, Carter Wachtel, Finnegan Dennis, Oliver Dennis, Colin Cayse, Kyle Cayse, Brennan Derr, Brice Derr, Bradley Derr, Olivia Derr, Elizabeth Derr and Natalie Atkins..

 A Celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at a later date due to the current health crisis. Memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s memory to Hospice of North Central Ohio 1050 Dauch Dr. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
