Betty Jane (Farver) Bursley, 102, passed away quietly in her sleep on July 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Ashland, Ohio, on January 28, 1922, to William Franklin Farver and Mable Gertrude (Huston) Farver. She married Jack Elton Bursley on June 21, 1941, and together they had three wonderful children: Jane Elizabeth Bobel, William Elton (Bill) Bursley, and Jack Allan Bursley.
Summers were joyously spent at Long Lake, filled with fun and laughter among family and friends. Betty was a devoted homemaker and also took on retail jobs in downtown Ashland at times. She was an artist who painted lovely landscapes and enjoyed word find games and puzzles. She lived by the philosophy, “Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened” - Dr. Seuss.
Betty is survived by her son, Bill (Becky) Bursley of Ashland, and grandchildren: Rob (Nan) Hummel of Arizona, Michelle Hummel of Canton, Betsy Bursley, Johnny (Heidi) Bursley of Ashland, Jack Bursley of Indiana, Jed Bursley, Adam Bursley, Nathan (Michaela) Bursley of Ashland/Mansfield, along with 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Farver and Jane Dove Farver, parents, William Franklin Farver and Mable Gertrude (Huston) Farver; her brother, John Wilbert Farver; sisters: Lenna May Farver, Roberta May Morley, Grace Naomi Eighinger, Gertrude Clarice Bull, Ruth Lucille Stanley, and Mary Rosetta Calhoun; her beloved husband, Jack Elton Bursley; her daughter, Jane Elizabeth Bobel; and her son, Jack Allan Bursley.
A celebration of life will be held in August 2024. Heyl Funeral Home will be handling the services, and burial will be at Roberts Funeral Home Ashland County Memorial Park at 1058 US 250, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
