Carol (Doerrer) Swartz

Carol Swartz age 91, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Belmont Tower.  She was born in Ashland on June 17, 1929, the daughter of the late Oscar and Lela (Liston) Doerrer.  Carol had been a lifelong resident of Ashland.  She had been employed with Star Telephone, National Latex, and later retired from the GTE Phone Company.  She was a member of the 1st. Presbyterian Church in Ashland.  Carol loved crafting, quilting, shopping and playing cards with the Friday Nighters card club.

On April 17, 1949 Carol married her Soulmate Karl Swartz who preceded her in death in 1988.  Survivors include her son, Steve (Barb) Swartz; her daughter, Kathy (Ron) Peterson; both of Ashland; her 6 grandchildren, Becky (Steve) Bryan, Wendy (Josh) Packard, Kerry (Matt) Miller, Chris (Chasta) Rhine, Jeff (Missy) Rhine, all of Ashland, and Matt (Tonya) Rhine of Indiana.  Also surviving are 17 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband Karl, Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Ellis and great-grandson, Logan Rhine.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dr. JoAnn Ford Watson officiating.  Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Online condolences are encouraged to be left for the family.  Memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s memory to the Ashland County Cancer Assoc. 101 E.
