Charles (Chuck) R. Allton

Charles (Chuck) R. Allton age 92 of Ashland, passed away at Ohio Health Mansfield on January 7, 2023.

Born in Zanesville, Ohio on September 24, 1930 the son of Lawrence and Verna (Norman) Allton. Mr. Allton worked in the field of finance and was employed at Economy Savings and Loan before transferring to Ashland. He worked many years in sales and was also part owner of Harold Motors in Ashland before his retirement. He was a member of the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve and served his country during the Korean Conflict.

On July 20, 1957, Charles was married to Jeanette Gerst who survives.

In addition to his wife Jeanette, he is survived by four children; Greg (Jody) Allton, Cindy Riley, Linda Allton and Nancy Allton all of Ashland. Also surviving are grandchildren; Ryan (Marinda) Bowerize, Todd (Courtney) Riley, Allison (Josh) Lutkus, Rachel (Chris) Kalmin, Scott (Jen) Riley, Josh Allton, Jake (Katie) Allton and Tyler Davis. Five great grandchildren also survive with one more on the way, two foster grandchildren by heart also survive.

Mr. Allton is preceded in death by his parents, son Mark Allton, granddaughter Kaela Allton and two brothers and one sister; Richard Allton, David Allton and Barbara Pepper.

The family would like to thank the Ashland Fire Department EMT’s and both the Ohio Health and University Hospital emergency room staff for their kindness and professional attention to Chuck and Jeanette.

A funeral service will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church in Ashland on Friday January 13, 2023 at 11:00 am with Father Rodney Kreidler officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashland County Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm on Thursday January 12, 2023 at the Heyl Funeral Home.
