Dale (Bud) Summerton 93, passed peacefully on June 24th, 2024. Born January 19, 1931 in Ashland Ohio, Bud was the son of Dale Lucas Summerton and Edna Corrine Bonewit. He graduated from Ashland High School and joined the US Army 1951 and served 3 years and was stationed in Korea as a Sargent, and was honorable discharged in 1954. He received several metals including: Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Metal, Korean Service Metal, and Air Calvary Metal.
Bud spent his career as a UPS Driver, and made long lasting relationships with everyone on his route, and with everyone he met. After retiring from UPS, he could not sit still, and fulfilled his need to drive by mowing lawns and golf courses till he was nearly 90. Bud enjoyed spending his free time fishing, bowling, golfing, camping and loved a good home cooked meal which he shared with his dog "Jack" who he adored and spoiled.
Bud was the perfect dad to his two children, Jeff Summerton (Christine Woerner), Jill Summerton, Grandchildren: Mikka (James) Soukups, Adam (Alexa) Hoelscher, and Shelby Meier and 11 Great Grandchildren and stepson Steve Estill. He is also survived by his twin brother and sister, Robert (Mina) Sumerton and Roberta Summerton.
He was proceeded in death by his partner Betty Mathes, former wife Pansy Summerton, daughter Debra Summerton, mother Edna Summerton, father Dale Summerton Sr., brother Gerald (Gig) Summerton, sisters Evelyn Foreman, Phyllis Fike, June Laughtery, Donna Foreman, Patricia Stafford.
Special people in Buds life include: Phil Brumm and his UPS buddies and many more, his caring friends and neighbors Denny and Vicky Shenberger who provided special care daily, and Steve Estill who graciously shared his home, the VA, and Linda Stevens who made him laugh, and brought home cooked meals for he and his dog Jack.
Graveside Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 6, 2024 at the Ashland Cemetery at 11:00 am.
