Darlene Ruth Wamack, age 70, passed away on November 30, 2025, leaving behind
a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories her family will cherish for a
lifetime. To know Darlene was to experience someone funny, gentle, bold, loving, and
fiercely nurturing — with perfectly timed sarcasm and just the right hint of drama that
only she could pull off. Those who truly knew her adored her for it.
Born with a heart big enough to hold everyone she loved, Darlene’s greatest joy came
from being a mother, a “Nanni,” a partner, and a loyal friend. With her children, she
was a true “mama bear” — unwavering in her protection, advocacy, and belief in
them. She found endless happiness in her role as Nanni, spending as much time as
possible with her grandchildren, spoiling them, covering for them, and hosting the
much-anticipated annual tradition of “Nanni Skip School Day.” With Nanni, life was
always a little funnier, a little sweeter, and a lot more memorable.
Darlene treasured the shenanigans shared with her Sisterhood girls, where laughter
was loud, jokes were sometimes inappropriate, and their bond was unbreakable. She
loved watching murder mysteries and proudly solved half the cases long before the
detectives did. She enjoyed traveling with her long-time companion, Eddie “Ed”
Carrol, and some of her happiest moments were spent with him listening to vinyl
records in the garage — surrounded by family, friends, and stories from a life lived
fully and unapologetically.
Preceded in death, Darlene now dances to reunite with her parents, Dorothy and Erso
Cogar; her siblings, Gary Sprankle, Diane O’Laughlin, and Ronald Sprankle; and most
importantly, her beloved son, Kevin Alan Sohl.
She is survived by the people who loved her beyond measure: her long-life
companion, Eddie Carrol; her children, Eric Wayne Sohl, Cassandra Diane Kirkpatrick
(Ralph Kirkpatrick), and Amber Rose Kirkpatrick (Tyler Kirkpatrick); and her six
grandchildren, Madeline and Kendal Sohl, Alexis and Paige Collins, Caison Conrad
(fiancé Carly Eckert), and Bryce DeMassimo, and her two brothers David (Vicki) Cogar and Marvin (Carla) Cogar, Each of them carries a part of her — her
humor, her resilience, and her heart.
Her presence was a gift, her laughter unforgettable, and her love everlasting. Though
her absence leaves an ache that cannot be filled, her spirit lives on in the stories she
shared, the memories she created, and the family she adored.
A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held on January 4, 2026, from 2–5 PM at
Wellington Eagles #2051, located at 631 S. Main St., Wellington, Ohio 44090, where
family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful,
bold, and irreplaceable woman she was.
