Eddie P. Vandriest, 84, of Ashland passed away at on December 29, 2024 at University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center.
Born on November 02, 1940 in, Wardell, Missouri the son of George VanDriest and Blanche Williams. On November 19, 1957, he married Shirley A. Gross, who passed away on January 27,2008 . Together, they shared years of memories.
Eddie worked for the City of Ashland until the time his retirement.
Eddie was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Temple in Bailey Lakes
Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family and playing his pogo games on the computer.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters; George VanDriest, Ted VanDriest, Rick VanDriest, Wayne (Tonya) VanDriest, Veronica (Jeff) Hicks, Kitty (David)Leiter and Evelyn (Doug) Bowen all of Ashland. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. One Brother and sister in law, Henry (Edna) VanDriest also survive.
In additon to his wife, Shirley he was preceded in death by grandson, Richard VanDriest; Sister’s and Brother, Bessie Star, Bonnie Hill and William VanDriest. His Step Father also precedes him in death, Theodore (Laverna) Kapiskosky
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday January 6, 2025 at the Heyl Funeral Home . The funeral will be held at 12:00pm, with Pastor Troy Sage, officiating at the Heyl Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park following Funeral Services.
The VanDriest family would like to thank the Ashland Police Department, Ashland Fire Department and EMT's and the staff at University Hospital Samaritan Health Center for the care that they provided to their father.
