Elizabeth (Betty) Sharer Cox age 102 of Ashland died on February 11, 2020.
She was born on August 28, 1917 in Mt. Morris, Illinois to David Max and Doris (Ames) Sharer. After graduating from Northwestern University, she married Richard (Dick) Cox on February 7, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1991 and did her brothers David and Robert Sharer.
Betty and Dick had two adopted children, Cherie (Ray) Dever of Ashland and Rick Cox of Venice California. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Michael (Karin) Carmoney of Des Moines Iowa and Shannon Carmoney Kiefer of Ashland.Betty is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Jillian and Samuel Carmoney and Mackenzie and Shelby Benton.
Betty volunteered as a Grey Lady during World War Two and later at Samaritan Hospital. While in her eighties she volunteered in her daughter's classroom. Betty loved playing duplicate bridge and was a Gold Life Master. Her other hobbies were needlework, crafts and traveling the world. She was a homemaker all of her life.
A family graveside service will be held this summer in Ashland. The family would like to thank all of the 3rd Floor nursing staff at UH Samaritan, the staff of Belmont Tower and Pathways Hospice for their compassionate care.
