Obituary

On April 28, 2020 Emily Jo ( Kahl) DePriest passed away at The Good Shepherd nursing home in Ashland.

Her battle with Alzheimer’s and Cancer is now over and she has received the ultimate healing. She is now in the arms of her loving Savior and Lord Jesus Christ; she is enjoying all the wonders and beauty of heaven and the home that he has prepared for her.

Emily was born on April 20, 1937 to Burton and Metta Kahl of Ashand, both deceased.

Emily had two brothers, David Kahl who preceded her in death and Bill (Susan) Kahl of South Carolina.

On March 8, 1959 she married Larry DePriest who survives. They had two children who also survive, daughter Vicki (Tom) Robinson of Jeromesville, Ohio and son, Phillip (Ann) DePriest of New Richmond, Ohio. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emily was a graduate of Ashland High Scholl, Class of 1955 with honors. She also graduated from the Samaritan School of Nursing with her RN and honors. Emily became a nurse because she had a servant’s heart and loved helping others. She worked at hospital’s and doctor’s offices and finished her nursing career at Brethren Care Nursing Facility in Ashland. Emily was a dedicated nurse and always made the patient care a priority wherever she worked.

Emily was an animal lover and loved all animals except bugs, and especially spiders. She also loved music and played the piano and cello. Emily was a great cook and kept her family well fed and happy. Her pies were prize winners.

Emily will be missed by all who knew her but knowing she has a new pain-free life makes her passing easier.
