Etta Lorene (Neece) Bailey

Etta Lorene Bailey age 89 of Ashland, died December 5, 2023 at the Brethren Care Nursing Home in Ashland. Born on February 20, 1934 in Dante, Virginia the daughter of Harless and Vivian (Johnson) Neece. She had been a resident of Ashland County since 1950. She had been employed at the Budd Company prior to her retirement.

On November 29, 1950, Etta was married to Troy E. Bailey Sr. who preceded her in death on December 17, 2020.

She is survived by two sons and dauther’s in law; Troy E. (Diana) Bailey of Nova and Greg G. (Shelly) Bailey of Ashland. Also surviving are two granddaughters and three great grandchildren; Mandy (Shawn) Mahoney, Katie (Brian) Cole, Silas Cole, Kolee Helms and Ava Mahoney.

In addition to her husband Troy, she is preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Betty Lou Bailey; one sister, Maggy Faw and two brothers, Billy Neece and Wayne Neece.

Etta was a member of the Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church.

She had many hobbies including, Trap shooting, writing poetry which she had numerous poems published, writing songs which her husband and sons played in their Blue grass band. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always on the go. She always said “if you don’t use it, you lose it. She had also written a published Children's Book and was an avid collector of many things.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 12, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Bailey officiating at the Heyl Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 till 11:00 am at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park.
