Eura "Patches" Olsen Obituary
Eura J. “Patches” Olsen of Ashland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025 in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by her daughters. While the family is deeply saddened by her passing, they rejoice in knowing that she is home with the Lord.
Eura was born on April 21, 1935 in Craigsville, West Virginia the daughter of Jessie and Dortha (Hartley) Querry. She was a graduate of Richwood High School. After marrying her High School Sweetheart, Jay L. Olsen Sr. on December 13, 1952, they traveled out west for four years taking in the sights of Washington, Oregon and northern California. Ultimately returning to West Virginia to start a family. They settled in Ashland, Ohio and Jay went to work for General Motors in Mansfield, Ohio.
She is survived by her children; Sherri (Bill) Cornell of Mansfield, Ohio, Robin (Mark) Timmons of Columbus, Ohio, Jay (Kelley) Olsen Jr. of Missouri and Lori (Tim) Briggs of Ashland, Ohio. 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, Eura is preceded in death by her husband in 2014; sisters, Darlela Hockenberry, Barbara Martin and Caroline Lutz. Two brothers also precede her in death; Albert Querry and Delbert Querry.
Eura loved the Lord and participated in multiple women’s groups. She was a member of Park Street Brethren Church and a devout Christian. She took every opportunity to witness about Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Heyl Funeral Home with Pastors Tim Briggs and Nate Bebout officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 4:00 pm till 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
