Gary O. Boales Sr.

Gary O. Boales Sr., age 72, of Wooster, formerly of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at LifeCare Hospice of Wooster. He was born September 13, 1948 in Ashland, the son of the late Earnie Boales and Viola (Lindsey) Kane. Gary was a 1967 graduate of Ashland High School. He had been employed at several local nursing homes as a Nurses Aid, Kent Sporting Goods, and most recently with Therm-O-Disc Inc. Gary was an avid Ohio sports fan including Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavilers, and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed fishing and bowling along with attending car shows and dirt track races. He had been a volunteer fireman in Ashland and Richland Counties.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Barbara (Mackey) Boales; his sons, Gary Boales Jr. and Jeff (Barbara) Boales both of New Pittsburg; his grandchildren, Viola and Kenneth; and brothers, Bobby (Delica) Kane of Sullivan and Brian Kane of Wooster.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his twin brother, Larry Boales.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Don Earlenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
