Obituary

Gary L. Carr age 82 of Ashland, passed away on Sunday January 8, 2023 at Kingston of Ashland.

 

Born in Ashland on July 6, 1940 the son of Linford and Virginia (Zehner) Carr he had been a Ashland resident all of his life.  Gary was a 1958 graduate of Savanah High School and had fond memories of playing for the Sailor's basketball team.  Mr. Carr retired from HD Supply Waterworks after 31 years of service. He traveled the country with his wife as a member of the Honda Goldwing Club. Gary was also a member of The First Presbyterian Church and loved to sing in the choir.


 

On February 18, 1961, Gary was married at First Presbyterian Church to Janice J. Kirkpatrick who survives.

 

In addition to his wife, Janice he is survived by his son, Craig (Sally) Carr of Ashland and daughter, Sloan (Kenton) Brune of Ashland. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Abigail (Dennis) Varela of Glendale, Arizona. One brother, Bruce Carr of Ashland also survives.

 

Mr. Carr is preceded in death by his parents and one sister and brother in law, Carol (Kate) and Donald Cross.

 

In accordance with Mr. Carr’s wishes there will be a private family burial to be held at a later date.
