Glenna “Kay” Earlenbaugh, 82, of Ashland, won her battle against Alzheimer’s and gained her angel wings on July 16, 2023 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born November 4, 1940 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Delton and Blanche (McGowan) Kern. Kay graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio in 1958 and on January 3, 1959, she married Donald G. Earlenbaugh, her faithful and devoted partner of 64 years. The first part of their married life was devoted to her children and navigating the role of a preacher’s wife. In 1968, she began her nursing education and once completed, spent her career working in Dr’s offices, nursing homes & hospitals as a Registered Nurse, finally retiring from the Area Agency on Aging after working there for 13 years.
Kay had many passions and her talents stretched beyond her nursing career. She loved crafts of any kind and that love led to a small business where she not only made her own baskets but, also taught others the skill to make their own. Her homemade cards were beyond compare and her attention to detail brought intricate detail and care to each one she made. If she wasn’t crafting, she was either shopping with or shopping for her grandkids, family and friends while Don waited patiently on a nearby bench, with a book.
Survived by her husband Don; her three children, Kay Lynn (Bruce) Hughes, Jennifer Gill and Donald (Beverly) Earlenbaugh; her grandchildren, Bruce Jr (Kelly) Hughes, Brianna Copley, Brittani (Jacob) Carpenter, Brandi (Cody) Matern, Steven Gill, Donald “DJ” Earlenbaugh, Christopher (Summer) Earlenbaugh; her 10 great grandchildren; along with her sister Carol (Gary) Wilson, sister/brother in laws, Jack and Donna Lee Chaumont, Erma Rae Thompson, Dennis and Jane Earlenbaugh; nieces and nephews.
