Helen D. Haggerty age 94 of Ashland, passed away on January 8, 2024 at the Good Shepherd Home.
Born in Lorain, Ohio on November 24. 1929 the daughter of Alex and Helen (Holodnak) Ksenich, she had been a resident of Ashland since 1987.
On February 7, 1948 Helen was married to Myron E. Haggerty who preceded her in death in 2005. Helen was very proud of being married to Myron for over 50 years. She visited him every day when he suffered a stroke and always did her best to take care of him.
During her life she lived in various places including, Lorain, Ohio; Avon, Ohio and Valdosta, Georgia. She had been employed in the meat department of several grocery stores over the years: Goldbergs, Rini-Regos and Heinens to name a few.
Helen is survived by one daughter and son in law, Sharon (James) Berry of Ashland. She is also survived by grandchildren Kevin (Julie) Berry of Ontario, Ohio and Gayle (Ray) Buchanan of Delevan, Wisconsin. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Tayla and Zachary Berry, Courtney and Raymond Buchanan.
In addition to her husband Myron, she is preceded in death by her parents, one great grandson, Jared D. Buchanan.
Funeral services for relatives and close friends will be held on Saturday January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Heyl Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Pate officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 am till 11:00 at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be held in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
