Herman Pickworth Obituary

Herman Kelly Pickworth age 76, of Adario, passed away at 2:50 P.M. on the 19th of December 2018.  He passed away peacefully at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland surrounded by his family.

Kelly (Dad, Pops, Papaw, Old Timer, and Grandpa to many) was a man of Integrity and passionate about his God, Wife, Family and Friends.  He was eager to share the word of God with anyone who would listen.  Life has taken him in many directions but the most important one to God and changed the direction of life for many generations to come after him.

He loved farming.  He worked many places from Kimberly Clark in California, to being in the State Patrol, to building log cabins with Pickworth Builders to selling cars and finally to MTD in Willard.

He was a prankster; many who knew him often were the butt of his pranks.  From measuring people for their casket, to scaring them to death with his patrol car siren and was famous for his full out, every man for himself water fights.  His most famous Prank found mom at the receiving end of a lawn spark plug wire.  He lived, and drove, 100 MPH all the time throughout his life.  He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything.  You choose the conversation and sometimes regretted you did.  We are pretty sure he is the only one who escaped out of Kingston at 6:30 A.M. and they still don’t know how he did it.  There was never a dull moment if you were around him.

Kelly was born February 22, 1942 in Ashland, Ohio to Paul and Ada (Kochenderfer) Pickworth who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn S. (Cross) Pickworth of Adario; his daughter, Tammy S. (David) Zink of Mansfield, son, Thomas (Diane) Pickworth of Adario, daughter, Lynn L. (Curtis Gerhart) Pickworth of Columbia, TN., son, Shawn (Amanda) Pickworth of Greenwich, and Matthew (Rhonda) Pickworth of Adario; his 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gordan Pickworth and Jerry Pickworth; sisters, Irene Ramsey, Pauline Neville, and Joan Dorrough along with his grandchildren, Nathan Cayton and Emily Pickworth.

The Pickworth family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Hospice of North Central Ohio and all who have contributed to the care of our Husband/ Father in the last 18 months or so.
