Homer L. Hershey

Homer L. Hershey, age 90 of Ashland, passed away at Brookwood Place on Wednesday September 13, 2023.

Born in Ashland County on June 3, 1933, the son of Philip and Mary (Baker) Hershey, he had been an Ashland resident most of his life. Homer had many jobs throughout his life; especially after hitch hiking his way to California and traveling to Hawaii when it became a state. Eventually returning to Ashland, he retired from the Hess & Clark Company and then worked side jobs for the elderly. Mr. Hershey was a graduate of Hayesville High School and was a member of the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church where he held different positions in the church. 

On April 28, 1963, Homer was married to Catherine Moyers who survives.

Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lisa Hershey of Ashland. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Brayden) Hanshaw, Sarah Hershey and one great grandson Oliver Hanshaw. Also surviving are his three sisters and one brother:  Thelma Glick, Martha Maddox, Janice (Jim) Gardner, Lloyd (Alice) Hershey, and sister in law, Linda Hershey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Miriam Leonard, Esther Hershey and Dale Hershey.

Funeral services will be held at the Ashland Brethren in Chirst Church on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 12:00pm with Pastor Keith Tyson officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove cemetery.
