Jack L. Sarkel

Jack L. Sarkel age 82 of Ashland, passed away March 19, 2025 at OhioHealth Mansfield.

Born in Ashland on August 26, 1942, the son of John and Florence (Tennant) Sarkel, he graduated from Ashland High School in 1961 and was a resident of Ashland all his life. Mr. Sarkel owned a laundromat and was self-employed before his retirement. He enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians, gardening, hunting, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed investing and following the stock market.

On May 4, 1965, Jack was married to Carol Ream who preceded him in death in 2003.

Surviving are two children and their spouses: Edward (Lori) Sarkel of Hilliard and Gail (Jon) Walter of Ashland. Four granddaughters also survive: Elizabeth (Torrance) Smith of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Katherine Sarkel of Hilliard, Vivian Walter of Ashland, and Sadie Walter of Ashland.

In addition to his wife, Carol, Jack is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lavonna Rush and granddaughter, Sophia Walter.

Graveside funeral services will be held at the Ashland County Memorial Park on Wednesday March 26, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dan Jackson officiating.
