James R. Filak II, age 62 of Polk, passed away at LifeCare Hospice surrounded by his family on October 9, 2025.
Born in Ashland on March 15, 1963 the son of James R. and Caroline (Watson) Filak. He had been a resident of Ashland County all of his life. Mr. Filak had been an employee of SJE Rhombus where he was a parts specialist. Mr. Filak had a passion to compete in Demolition Derby’s, riding his motorcycles and hunting. He was a member of Ashland Eagles Aerie 2178 and the National Rifle Association. He also was a volunteer fireman with the Polk Jackson Fire Department for 22 years.
On July 16, 1983 his was married to Brenda Ewing who survives.
In addition to his wife Brenda, he is also survived by two children; James R. Filak III of Ashland and Brittney Filak of Ashland. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Haylee Filak and three half siblings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Ruth
A celebration of his life will take place on November 2, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Ashland Eagles Aerie 2178, 400 Eastlake Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
