James (Jim) M. Markley

With heavy hearts we announce the death of James (Jim) Michael Markley age 75 of Ashland. Who passed away at UH Samaritan Health Center on December 16, 2022.

Born in Lodi, Ohio on September 16, 1947 the son of Carl and Lucille (Snoddy) Markley.

Jim was a graduate of Black River High School Class of 1965 and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He dedicated his entire 44 year career to the same company. 

Jim was married to Linda Smalley on July 8, 1994, a love they shared for over 36 years.

Surviving is his wife Linda; four children, Kevin (Sarah) Markley of Ashland, Mike (Michele) Campbell of Ashland, Shawn Campbell of Ashland and Mindy (Tim) Tavanello of Florida.

Jim had 7 grandchildren he adored Katlyn,Tyler, Destani, Octavia, Alexis, Alex and Miah

Also surviving is one brother, Richard (Ann) Markley of West Salem. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Christopher Markley, sister Jeanette Osborn and brother Raymond Markley.

Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed going to Casino’s with his wife. He also greatly enjoyed substitute teaching at the Career Center and being around his students.

A time of visitation and remembrance of Jim’s life will be held on December 23, 2022 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the Heyl Funeral Home. As per his wishes Jim will be buried in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim’s name to the organization of your choice.
