James (Jim) P. Weiss

James “Jim” P. Weiss age 82, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1935 in Akron, the son of the late Joseph and Betty (Brown) Weiss.  Jim became a Registered Pharmacist through Ohio Northern University.  Jim and his brother Jerry where the owners/ operators of the Weiss Family Pharmacy, which they took over from their father to continue the family business for over 50 years.  Jim had been an outstanding advocate for Ashland and its downtown Businesses. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Club, the Country Club and a past member of various local organizations.  He enjoyed fishing, golf and traveling.

On December 1, 1978 Jim married Gerry Lowe Weiss who survives.  Also surviving are his children, Todd Watson of Ashland, Molly (Mark) Geil of Reno, NV., Mark (Fiancée Shawn) Weiss of Westerville, Jamie (Brandon) Avis of Port Clinton, C.C. (J.C.) Flowers of Powell, his foster daughter, Kathy (Steve) Klaameyer of Ashland; his brother Jerry (Leslie) Weiss; along with his Bountiful number of grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William Weiss.

A Memorial service will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Saturday, November3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Don Earlenbaugh officiating.  Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Ashland County Cancer Association 1011 E. Main St. Suite B Ashland, Ohio 44805.
