Janice Bachmann Bartley Rowsey, 97, finished her race well on November 20, 2024 at Brookwood Place in Ashland, Ohio. She was born on March 11, 1927 in Ashland, Ohio; the daughter of Albert and Carrie (Davis) Bachmann.
Janice graduated from Ashland High School in 1945. She worked for F.E. Myers, Ashland Credit Bureau and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation; then worked for InfoPro, her husband’s business, all located in Ashland. She married Alfred Leroy Bartley on February 9, 1947, who proceeded her in death in 1975. Janice later married John D. Rowsey on September 30, 1977 who proceeded in death in 2021.
Janice had a passion for music, she started singing trio with her sisters while they were all single. She was very active in music ministries at different churches in the Ashland area. She especially enjoyed playing the keyboard and singing with the Golden Serenaders of the Ashland Senior Center. For many years Janice made weekly visits to sing and play the keyboard at Brethren Care Village. Janice taught Sunday School, was involved with The Missionary Society and was a member of the Garber Brethren Church. She had a love for animals, she was known by neighborhood dogs for carrying treats in her pocket.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Linda Bartley Geaslen of South Carolina; son, Steve (Carol) Bartley of Ohio; stepdaughters, Sue Warner and Valerie (Michael) McBride of Michigan; seven grandchildren; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Along with the passing of her husbands, Leroy and John, Janice is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margie and Shirley; brothers, Norman, Stanley and Phillip; daughter, Elizabeth Bartley Huebner; stepson, Phillip Rowsey and son in laws, Gene Geaslen and Stan Warner.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Brookwood Place of Ashland and Gentiva Hospice of Mt. Vernon for their exceptional care and love for their mother, Janice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Garber Brethren Church, 163 Sherman Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am till 11:00 am prior to the funeral service at the Garber Brethren Church. A private internment will be held at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
