Jeffrey A. Swisher

Jeffrey A. Swisher age 72, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. He was born April 29, 1949 in Mansfield, the son of the late Jack Swisher and Eletha (Baker) Caugherty. Jeff was a 1967 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and later attended Miami University. He had been employed as an Operation Manager for construction distribution and supplies for 40 years before retiring in 2016. He was a veteran of the US Army 101st Airborne Division, serving during Vietnam. Jeff had been active with several veteran groups and collected Native American artifacts. He enjoyed playing poker, euchre, trivia, and following the Ohio State Buckeye’s football. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, which include his “Sensational Six” grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Pop”.

On June 21, 1969 Jeff married Patsy A. Swisher who preceded him in death in 2018. Survivors include his son, Bret (Amber) Swisher; daughter, Jamie (Jeff) Honaker both of Ashland; his grandchildren, Emma Swisher, Jenna Honaker, Jacob Swisher, Jocelyn Honaker, Madden Rosser and Jordyn Honaker; many nieces and nephews; his brother, Bruce (Renee) Caugherty of Lexington; sister, Stacey Caugherty of Shenandoah; along with his many lifelong friends.

In addition to his parents and wife Patsy, Jeff was preceded in death by his daughter Suzanne Swisher.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Benjamin Rosser officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh with Military Honors presented by the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family 2 hours prior to the service on Monday from 10:00 AM till service time at 12:00 PM. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jeff’s memory to the Brethren Care Village, Life Enrichment Fund 2140 Center St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
