Obituary

Joe-Ann Edmondson age 84, of Ashland, passed away Monday, May, 9, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 22, 1937 in Mansfield, the daughter of the late Charles Metcalf and Naomi (McKinley) Frye. Joe-Ann was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and later received her degree in Education from Kent State University where she was active in the Delta Zeta Sorority. Joe-Ann had been employed with Montgomery Elementary and Grant Street Elementary, teaching 1st, 4th and 5th grade for over 20 years before retiring in 1998. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School Teacher. Joe-Ann was a member of the Teachers Honorary Society – Delta Kappa Gamma, she also had ran the Little Red Wagon reading program for several years. She enjoyed knitting especially blankets and slippers for nursing homes and enjoyed making quilts.

On August 13, 1960 Joe-Ann married Jeffrey Kent Edmondson who preceded her in death in 2015. Survivors include her sons, William R. (Lori) Edmondson of Erie, PA., and Jay S. (Kimberly) Edmondson of Loudonville; along with her grandchildren, Jessica Ann Edmondson and Jeffrey Kent Edmondson both of Erie, PA.

A Celebration of Joe-Ann’s life will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tom Snyder officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe-Ann’s memory to Life Care Hospice 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691.
