John A. Moherman

John A. Moherman, age 72, of Ashland, passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 24, 2023.  Born in Ashland on August 2, 1951, the son of the late Will T. and Virginia (Witmer) Moherman. He was a life long resident of Ashland. John had been employed as an independent, owner/ operator Tuck Driver for over 35 years, most recently working with Ru-D Trucking. He was a member of The Fraternal Order of the Eagles # 2178, the Ashland Moose Lodge and the Ashland V.F.W. Post 1067. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve. John enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and working on his trucks. He also was an avid sports fan, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

On July 12, 2003 John married Barb (Leasure) Moherman who survives. Other survivors include his children, Alicia Moherman of Columbus, Seth Moherman of Columbus, Jessica Kennedy of Tennessee and Justin Hales of Ashland; his grandchildren; Kaden, Da’Lisa, Jaxon and Ryder; his brother, David (Jayne) Moherman of Woodville; his sisters, Ann Bernius of Toledo and Carol (Fred) Miller of Bucyrus; along with his brothers in-law, Gene (Darlene) Leasure, Mike Leasure and Steve Leasure.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Moherman; mother in- law, Shirley Leasure and sister in- law, Liz Leasure.

Funeral services will be held at the Heyl Funeral Home on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Matt Stollings officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashland Dickey Church of the Brethren Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Following the services there will be a Celebration of John’s Life at the Eagles Club Pavilion.
