John Rowsey Obituary

John David Rowsey, age 87, passed away on August 20, 2021, at Brookwood Place in Ashland. Born on November 28 in Falls City, Nebraska, Mr. Rowsey is the son of the Reverend Herbert (H.H.) and Harriet (Becknell) Rowsey. He has been a resident of Ashland County since 1970.

Mr. Rowsey was the owner/operator of InfoPro Computers in Ashland. He spent a lifetime giving his time and talents both locally and overseas. He served in the mission field as a sound technician producing radio Bible programs in Argentina and also quietly supporting local businesses and non-profit organizations in Ashland such as United Way, Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, he faithfully volunteered at Garber Brethren Church teaching Sunday School, running the sound system, tracking finances and other duties. Despite his own battle with the disease, Mr. Rowsey led the local Parkinson’s Support Group. The United States Navy awarded Mr. Rowsey the National Defense Service Medal for his service to the nation.

Mr. Rowsey married Janice (Bartley) Rowsey on September 30, 1977, and she survives him. Also surviving are two daughters: Susan Warner and Valerie McBride of Spring Lake, Michigan. Three step children also survive: Linda Bartley Geaslen of Ashland, Elizabeth Bartley Huebner of Westminster, Colorado, and Steven L. Bartley of Ashland. Six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and brother, Reverend Jim Rowsey, also survive.

Mr. Rowsey is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jean Hamel and Harriet Perry, and son Phillip.

A private family burial will be followed with a celebration of Mr. Rowsey’s life at the Garber Brethren Church at a later date.
