John M. Tolliver Sr. age 84, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Presidential Care Center of Marion. He was born January 12, 1936 in Pineville, KY., the son of the late Foster and Nannie (Jones) Tolliver. John was a graduate of the Henderson Settlement High School. He had been a resident of Ashland most all of his life. He had been employed as a welder with the Hyco/ Dana Corporation for 28 year before retiring in 1989. John was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting and fishing. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and especially the Kentucky Wildcats.
On July 14, 1958 John married E. Karen Martin who preceded him in death in 2002. Survivors include his children, Evelyn (Harold) White of Marion, Susan Miller of Ashland, Matt (Diane) Tolliver of Ashland, and Jeffery Tolliver of Polk; his 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Cody) Roland, Elizabeth Miller, Heather (Nick) Wickham, Nicole (Aaron) Tallmadge, Jeffrey (Amber) Tolliver, Dustin Tolliver, Andrew White and Angelica White; his 13 great- grandchildren; along with his sister, Dorothy Partin of Pineville, KY.
In addition to his parent and wife Karen, John was preceded in death by his son in-law, Mike Miller; 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Harry Strachan officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park with Military Honors presented by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
