Johnathan "John" Ray Ward

Johnathan “John” R. Ward 57, died Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 28, 1964, the son of the late Chester J. Ward Sr. and LaVerne Taylor Ward (Hall). John had been a resident in Ashland, Ohio for 13 years and Portsmouth, Ohio 15 years and Camden, SC 9 years. John worked in construction, loved mushroom hunting, kidding around, playing pool, darts, and hillbilly golf.

Johnathan is survived by his companion for 14 years, Sherry Ward Vandriest of Camden, SC.; the mother of his children, Dorothy Dillon Ward; his mother, LaVerne Taylor Ward Hall of Ashland, Ohio; his daughters, Crystal (Wayne) Braxton of Bellville, and Starr Nicole Ward of Ashland; step daughter, Mandy (Brandon) Baker of Polk; and a step son, Les Dillon of Portsmouth. Also surviving are his brothers, Chester J. Ward Jr. of Portsmouth and Richard Ward of Mansfield; sisters, Midge (Dan) Schoolcraft of Mooresboro, NC., Teresa Hay (Abraham) Peters of Chesnee, SC., Loretta Stewart of Ashland, and LaVonne Harrison of Ashland, Along with his 7 grandchildren.

In addition to his father Chester J. Ward Sr., John was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Sue Ward.
