Obituary

Joe R. Kiliany Sr. age 89, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 at his residence.  He was born in Everson, PA., on March 11, 1931, the son of the late Albert A. and Julia (Ohotnicky) Kiliany.  He was a 1948 graduate of Scottsdale High School.  Joe had been a resident of Ashland most all of his life.  He had been employed with General Motors for 35 years before retiring in 1993.  Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was active with the USS Elokomin Association.  He was an active member of St. Edwards Catholic Church where he was an Usher, played on the golf league and softball league.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 88, the 40 n 8’s, Mansfield Retirees, Ashland Senior Golf league, had been a 4-H Advisor and Cub Scout Leader.  Joe enjoyed staying active weather golfing, fishing, bowling, traveling and loved casinos and playing the lottery.

On April 28, 1956 Joe married Mildred Rhodes who survives.  Other survivors include his children, Deb (Ron) Tallmadge of Emerald Isle, N.C., Brenda (Steve) Caldwell of Tallmadge, OH., Joe Kiliany Jr. of Columbus, OH., and Patty (Lewis) Schroeder of Indiana and Florida; his grandchildren, Ron, Sara, Jamie, Tony and Isaiah; his great grandson, Warren; his brother, Richard (Rosemary) Kiliany and sister, Juliana Dalansky both of Scottsdale, PA.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Raymond, Albert and John; along with his sisters, Mary Margaret and Beatrice.

Private family funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home with Father Rod Kreidler officiating.  Military Honors will be presented by the Ashland Veteran Honor Guard.  Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to Kindred Hospice Care, the American Legion, St. Edwards Catholic Church or to the Donor’s choice.
