The family of Karin Dianne Jarvis announces her passing with deep sorrow on May 7, 2025.
Karin was born on June 6, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Howard and Ruth (Long) Seidner. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1956 and went on to marry Larry Eugene Jarvis on April 19, 1958. Together, they built a life filled with raising a family, traveling, and sharing their passion for dancing as each other's forever dance partners.
In 1972, Karin was inducted into the Psi Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority, where she remained an active member in the Psi Chapter. She retired from Elder Beerman in 2014, having earned the distinguished honor of a lifetime employee discount.
During her retirement, Karin continued enjoying services at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, staying involved in sorority events, and playing bridge with friends. She will always be remembered for her immaculate home, generous nature, and the care she extended to others.
She is survived by her two children, Kristi (Steve) Walter and Michael (Jenny) Jarvis. Her four grandchildren, Jared (Kirstin) Jarvis, Maura Walter, Leah Walter, and Clayton Walter, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Stran, Ellee and Kami. Her sisters, Janet (Charlie) Straits, Patricia (Jerry) Hartley, and her brothers, Larry (Nancy) Seidner and Kenneth (Lorena) Seidner. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry Jarvis, her son-in-law Steven Walter, her sister Judith Plank, and her sister-in-law Nancy Jarvis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karin’s name to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church,35121 Smith Chapel Road, Logan, OH 43138 or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Heyl Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Fitch officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville, Ohio.
