Katherine "Kathy" Virginia Koch

Katherine “Kathy” Virginia Koch age 74, of West Salem, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Akron General Hospital. She was born in Michigan on June 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Floren and Doris (Hadderman) Koch. Kathy had been a resident of Ashland most all of her life and was a 1965 graduate of Ashland High School. She had been employed with Archway for 10 years, C.E. Wards (Fraternal Supplies) in New London for over 20 years, Dor-lo Pizza, Landoll for 6 years, Forest City in Wellington for 18 years and most recently I.G.A. in West Salem. She truly enjoyed working. Kathy had enjoyed being a coordinator for the Miss Ashland Pageant for several years and was a social member of the V.F.W. in Wellington. Kathy always put family first and had a genuine kind heart, she was known to many as “Aunt Kathy”.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Brenda Marker, Wendy Shambaugh, Traci (Tim) Sargent, James (Amy) Koch and Stephanie Ricker; along with many grand nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her sister, Betty McConnel; and brothers, Robert Koch and David Koch.

Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022 with Pastor John Bouquet officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to Heyl Funeral Home to help defray costs.
